Stations you can use today

- Oshawa GO, at Durham College
Trains run all day, and most seats are in the peak hours. Check the GO Transit trip planner for times from the station you are thinking about.
Coming east: Bowmanville
18.7 kmMetrolinx is extending the Lakeshore East line east from Oshawa to Bowmanville. The main construction contract was awarded in January 2026 and work has started on the Durham College Oshawa GO station and nearby bridges. The plan is two-way, all-day service, with trains every 30 minutes at peak. We have not seen a confirmed opening date, so do not buy on a date you have heard.
By road
Highway 401 runs across the south of the Region. Highway 407 (a toll highway) runs along the north of the urban area, and Highways 412 and 418 connect the two.
What to know
- The 401 can slow down a lot at rush hour, especially heading west.
- The 407 ETR charges a toll. Work out the monthly cost before you count on it.
- Durham Region Transit (DRT) buses connect many neighbourhoods to the GO stations.
Not on the train line
Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge have no GO train station. Most people there drive, and some drive to a GO station in Whitby, Oshawa or Ajax. Clarington has no GO train until the Bowmanville extension opens.

Before you buy: test the commute
Do it at your hour
Drive or ride the trip at the time you would really travel, on a weekday. A Sunday trip tells you nothing.
Check the parking
GO station lots can fill early and some charge a fee. Ask how you would get to the station, by car, bus or on foot.
Add up the cost
Compare a GO fare, car costs, parking and any 407 tolls for a month. A cheaper house can cost more to commute from.
