Schools in Durham Region
Four school boards serve the Region. Here is who they are, how to find the school for a specific address, and what to check before you buy.
Find a school
The four school boards
Most families choose by language and by school board. All four are publicly funded.
Durham District School Board
English public schools across the Region, including French immersion programs.
Durham Catholic District School Board
English Catholic schools, with French immersion in some schools.
Conseil scolaire Viamonde
French public schools. Families who qualify can send children to a French-language school.
Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir
French Catholic schools, for families who qualify.
Check the school for your address
Use the board's tool
School areas are set by address, not by town. Put the home's exact address into the board's school finder.
Ask about the program
French immersion, special programs and busing can follow different rules from your local school. Ask the board directly.
Check again before you sign
School areas can change, and a school can be full. Do not rely on a listing, and confirm before you make an offer.
Results and school information
EQAO results
Ontario's testing agency publishes results for each school. They are one piece of information, not a full picture of a school.
Ontario school finder
The Government of Ontario lists every school and board, with contact information.
After high school
You do not have to leave the Region for college or university. Durham College and Ontario Tech University share a campus in north Oshawa, and Trent University has a campus in Oshawa too.
A note from us
We do not rank or recommend schools. Families weigh different things, and school information changes. Check each school's own information and the board's current school areas before you buy.
